Digital X-Ray Technology
Our state-of-the-art digital X-ray systems provide superior image quality with significantly reduced radiation exposure compared to traditional film-based X-rays. Digital technology allows for immediate image availability and enhanced diagnostic capabilities.
X-rays are one of the most common and useful diagnostic imaging tests available. They're quick, painless, and provide valuable information about bones, joints, organs, and other internal structures.
Advantages of Digital X-Ray
- Instant Results: Images available immediately for review
- Reduced Radiation: Up to 80% less radiation than traditional X-rays
- Superior Quality: Enhanced image clarity and detail
- Environmentally Friendly: No chemical processing required
- Easy Storage: Digital images stored securely and easily shared
- Quick Process: Most X-rays completed in 5-15 minutes

β Walk-Ins Accepted
- Chest X-rays
- Bone and joint X-rays
- Extremity X-rays (arms, legs, hands, feet)
- Basic spine X-rays
- Most routine X-ray studies
π Appointment Required
- Contrast studies (barium meals, enemas)
- Specialized positioning studies
- Multiple complex views
- Studies requiring preparation
Walk-In Hours
Walk-in patients are seen in order of arrival. Appointments take priority.
What to Expect During Your X-Ray
Check-In
Present your referral and identification. Complete any required paperwork or provide information about your symptoms.
Preparation
You may need to change into a hospital gown and remove jewelry or metal objects from the area being X-rayed.
Positioning
Our radiographer will position you for the X-ray. You may need to hold different positions for a few seconds while images are taken.
Results
Images are reviewed by our radiologists. Results are typically available within 24 hours and sent to your referring doctor.
X-Ray Safety & Radiation
Radiation Safety
Modern digital X-ray systems use very low amounts of radiation. The radiation exposure from a chest X-ray is equivalent to the natural background radiation you receive in about 2.4 days.
Safety Measures:
- Digital technology reduces radiation by up to 80%
- Lead aprons protect sensitive areas when needed
- Only the area of interest is exposed
- Strict protocols ensure minimal exposure
Special Considerations
π€° Pregnancy
Inform staff if you are or might be pregnant. X-rays are generally avoided during pregnancy unless absolutely necessary.
πΆ Children
Special pediatric protocols ensure the lowest possible radiation dose for children while maintaining diagnostic quality.
π Previous X-Rays
Bring any previous X-rays if available for comparison, which may reduce the need for additional imaging.
How to Prepare for Your X-Ray
General Preparation
- No special preparation required for most X-rays
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing
- Avoid clothing with metal fasteners over the area being X-rayed
- Remove jewelry, watches, and metal objects
What to Bring
- Referral from your doctor
- Medicare card and insurance cards
- Previous X-rays or imaging studies
- List of symptoms or relevant medical history
Special Instructions
- For abdominal X-rays: May need to fast
- For contrast studies: Follow specific preparation instructions
- Inform staff of pregnancy or potential pregnancy
- Mention any previous reactions to contrast material
