Coronary Calcium Scoring
Advanced cardiac CT scan to detect and quantify calcium deposits in coronary arteries for early heart disease assessment
What is Coronary Calcium Scoring?
Coronary calcium scoring, also known as a heart scan or cardiac CT, is a specialized X-ray test that detects calcium deposits in the coronary arteries of your heart. These calcium deposits are early markers of coronary artery disease, even before symptoms develop.
The test uses computed tomography (CT) technology to create detailed images of your heart and coronary arteries. The amount of calcium detected is quantified using the Agatston score, which helps determine your risk of future heart problems.
Key Benefits
- Early Detection: Identify heart disease risk before symptoms appear
- Non-invasive: No needles, contrast dye, or surgery required
- Quick & Painless: Scan takes only 10-15 minutes
- Low Radiation: Minimal radiation exposure with modern technology
- Preventive Care: Helps guide lifestyle and treatment decisions
